In the September 6th Messenger from the Covington diocese, Bishop John C. Iffert, puts out a message in defense of his mass on August 28th for the group called Catholics Embracing All God’s Children.
He continues to repeat the same message that “Catholics Embracing all God’s Children is a support group of parents, family members and friends of gay, lesbian and transgender persons who struggle reconciling their love and support for their loved ones and the love and faithfulness to the Catholic Church and its teachings.”
However, there have already been conflicting statements, both from the bulletins of the church where he said mass and the newspaper of the diocese, The Messenger, that “Catholics embracing all God’s Children is a local group of Catholics who support gay and lesbian, bisexual, transgender persons.”
So, in other words, not just a group for the parents who are supporting the children.
It’s clear, however, that the group Catholics Embracing All God’s Children is not just a support group for parents of same sex attracted children, but that it is a ministry of Fortunate Families, which is a gay affirmative, pro same sex, marriage advocacy group.
Unfortunately, the bishop has continued to double down in his support of his own actions as well as this group constantly mischaracterizing who and exactly what they are.
