Expose and Resist Fortunate Families

Beware of Fortunate Families and their subversive so-called “ministries,” such as “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children.”

USCCB President Clarifies Status of New Ways Ministry

Fortunate Families draws inspiration from the founders of New Ways Ministry, who have been permanently prohibited from any involvement with homosexual persons, a decision recently upheld by the USCCB, as clarified in the link above.

These two groups—Fortunate Families and New Ways Ministry—are nearly identical in both ideology and approach. We aim to expose the dangers posed by these heretical and subversive groups, which work to undermine Church teachings. Their actions, along with the data they use in their so-called “ministry,” are not only blasphemous and heretical but also scandalous to souls, who are affirmed in their sin rather than encouraged to amend their lives with the help of God’s grace. The individuals entrapped by their ministry are being denied the true love that calls us all to repentance, regardless of sinful inclinations. Instead, these poor souls are led away from the real love of Christ, which calls sinners to carry their crosses, whatever they may be.

Further Evidence of the Ties Between New Ways Ministry and Fortunate Families

For more information on these connections, see the *History of Fortunate Families* document found here.

For the past 14 years, the group “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children” has met monthly at St. Joseph’s Church in Cold Springs, Kentucky. On December 6, 2023, a Mass was offered for this group, a ministry of Fortunate Families, at Mother of God Parish in Covington. See the bulletin excerpt below.

Good Catholics in the Covington area may have missed when this parish and its priests began to bless this scandalous group. However, in 2024, when the bishop announced he would be saying Mass for “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children,” many people took notice. Our team was present at the event and began gathering information about the group.

Before the August 28, 2024 Mass in Cold Springs, our team had already uncovered much about the group’s so-called “ministry.” We confirmed that “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children” is indeed connected to Fortunate Families, as evidenced by their presence in various church bulletins, including the 2023 Mass in Covington and the 2024 Mass in Cold Springs. See the bulletin image below from St. Joseph’s Church.

In the weeks leading up to the August 28 Mass, concerned Catholics voiced their objections to local pastors and wrote letters to the bishop, but to no avail. Setting aside the lack of dialogue with the bishop, our team discovered that Fortunate Families, the parent ministry of “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children,” advocates for changes in Church teaching regarding the sin of Sodom. It is also evident that this “ministry” does not support homosexual persons in living chaste lives or seeking freedom from disordered and sinful lifestyles.

Much of this is detailed in the testimonials section of Fortunate Families, titled “Our Stories.” See the link here.

This includes a feature story by Dr. Andy Buechel, Ph.D. (unfortunately, in religious studies), a self-proclaimed “married gay man” in open dissent of Church teaching. Andy facilitates the monthly meet-up at St. Joseph Church in Cold Springs and openly admits to disagreeing with the magisterium on matters related to LGBTQ persons. He presumes to challenge and disregard Church authority, asserting his own private judgment on faith and morals, particularly regarding the sin of Sodom.

When we discovered the group’s activity in the Diocese of Covington, we did further research. We found evidence of their participation in the Cincinnati Pride Parade on June 22, 2024, which is publicly listed on the Cincinnati Pride website.

Cincinnati Pride Parade Entries

The Cincinnati Pride Parade is an annual celebration of pride, specifically promoting the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah. No Catholic should participate in such events. The fact that Catholics would join this celebration of sin is incomprehensible, but upon deeper investigation, it becomes clear that these groups simply do not believe in the Church’s teachings on sin, especially the sin of Sodom. These souls need to be led to the confessional, where they can find God’s mercy through contrition and a firm purpose of amendment. Anything less is a grave scandal. Affirming them in their sin is false charity, which has no place in Catholic teaching.

Further troubling evidence comes from the secular gay magazine *Outlook Ohio*, which praises “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children.” A screenshot shows this group’s approval by the magazine for parents who “support their gay children.”

On August 28, 2024, a scandalous Mass was offered for this group. Several of our team members attended and collected the pamphlets, flyers, and materials being distributed. We will share more of what we uncovered.

One handout showed clear ties between Fortunate Families and “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children,” reaffirming their connection. Another piece of evidence highlights the group’s links to New Ways Ministry, a subversive organization that the USCCB has already suppressed.

Additionally, Fortunate Families cherry-picks or distorts Catholic doctrine to justify itself while avoiding the Church’s teachings that condemn sodomy and transgenderism.

One of the most blasphemous pieces we encountered was a so-called “Litany of Queer Saints.” We ask that you take a moment to make reparation after reading the following:

This litany includes a vile accusation involving St. Francis of Assisi and beastiality, and even worse, deeply offensive insinuations about St. John the Beloved and Our Lord Jesus Christ. Beyond these grotesque insinuations, the litany redefines martyrdom and promotes false saints.

That such material was allowed to enter a Catholic Church is beyond belief. The group responsible for disseminating this blasphemous material is Fortunate Families and “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children.” Their actions show a blatant attempt to redefine Church teaching on moral issues.

The litany of blasphemy, heresy, and scandal from Fortunate Families is extensive. A full list of the information we gathered is provided below, some of which is innocuous in comparison to the grave offenses we uncovered.

Arguments from their supporters claim that calling for repentance or penance for those with disordered inclinations is hateful and condemnatory. But it is clear that they seek to put their sins beyond the reach of discussion or correction. No such “ministry” advocating for freedom from sin seems to exist for those struggling with same-sex attraction, unlike ministries addressing other grave sins such as pornography. The evidence points to their unwillingness to help these souls find the mercy of God in the sacraments, through confession, contrition, and a firm purpose of amendment.

True love, as Christ showed us, calls sinners to repentance. His love was sacrificial, demonstrated by His carrying of the Cross. Each of us is called to carry our own cross, however heavy it may be. But Christ makes that cross bearable, and it is in His love that sinners find true freedom.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP STOP THESE SUBVERSIVE GROUPS?

Be respectful and charitable of the offices of the hierarchy of the Church in your communications.

Please copy and paste the following letter to the USCCB to investigate and shutdown Fortunate Families and their ministry “Catholic Embracing All God’s Children”.  Here is a link that will prefill an email automatically for you. If the link doesn’t work, then please send an email to defenseofmarriage@usccb.org with the template below. And please remember to sign your name at the end!

Dear USCCB Representatives,

I am writing to express concern regarding the activities of groups such as Fortunate Families and their affiliated ministry, “Catholics Embracing ALL God’s Children.” These organizations promote teachings and practices that contradict Catholic doctrine, particularly on human sexuality and the call to chastity.

Fortunate Families advocates for changes in Church teaching and has distributed materials, including a “Litany of Queer Saints,” that many find blasphemous and offensive. Their ties to New Ways Ministry—previously addressed by the USCCB—raise further concerns about their influence.

I respectfully urge the USCCB to investigate these matters. Clear guidance is needed to prevent further confusion and scandal, ensuring that individuals are called to repentance and to live in accordance with God’s grace.

Thank you for your attention to this serious issue. I trust your leadership will uphold the teachings of the Church with love and truth.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
